Dr. Therese Deschenes

Dr. Deschenes has been in private practice for over 25 years in this location thanks to all of our loyal and much appreciated patients! She received her bachelor of Science degree from Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA.  Dr. Deschenes then attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and received her doctorate.  An elective residency in Primary Care Practice was completed at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, PA, in affiliation with Hahnemann University.

Dr. Deschenes was a staff consultant at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia after her residency.  Then the doctor moved into private practice and worked under Dr. Frederick B. Kremer who founded the Kremer Eye Center and was a prominent pioneer in the field of refractive surgery and advanced cataract surgery procedures. This experience afforded Dr. Deschenes the opportunity to expand her knowledge base and become proficient in many diverse areas of eye care.  She has been involved with pre and post surgical management care of cataract, refractive/lasik/PRK/Visian Lens, and glaucoma patients for years.  She also specializes in the screening for diabetic retinopathy, dry eye syndrome, and macular degeneration.  Dr. Deschenes trained under the director of Contact lens services at the Eye Institute in Philadelphia, Dr. Joel Silbert, and is well versed in fitting difficult contact lens cases including, but not exclusive to Keratoconus.  Dr. Deschenes is board certified and is a member of the American Optometric Association as well as it's local affiliates.
